Today is the twenty- second of February, Donald Trump has only been in office for one month and so much has happened already in this administration that it’s hard to believe or keep track of.
Executive Orders
Trump has signed 67 executive orders, making him the first President in 40 years to sign so many in his first 100 days. He could be on track to sign the most ever. These orders have ranged from ordering the Federal government to only recognize the male and female sex, to designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations. From the establishment of DOGE to imposing a 10% tariff on China.
Airplane Incidents
Since the start of the Trump admin there have been a total of 3 airline accidents. While seemingly not a lot, given the rarity of the occasion, having three in such a short amount of time is baffling. The first one taking place in D.C. itself between a Blackhawk helicopter and a PSA Bombardier CRJ700 on Jan 29th resulting in a loss of all life. The second was on the last day of January involving a Learjet 55 air ambulance carrying six people, including a child receiving medical treatment. As the plane fell from the sky, it killed another individual in their car making the total seven souls lost. Finally, the third accident didn’t result in any loss of life, though probably should’ve been easily avoided. In Seattle, while a Japanese Airlines plane was taxiing, the wing rammed into the tail section of a Delta Airlines plane damaging both.
Remaking the Executive Agencies
In the days since Trump took office, he has fully taken advantage of the fact that all Federal agencies are under his purview. He has implemented a buy-out option or a “deferred resignation program” for those who do not what to be fired immediately and also don’t want to be in this administration. There has been a funding freeze on all foreign aid while what is necessary and not is sorted out. There has been a halt to all DEI programs and workers in all government agencies. Most recently, USAID has been shutdown for funding DEI projects overseas.
Illegal Immigration
It is clear the Trump plans on holding true to the promises he made during the campaign. Nowhere is that more clear than in regards to immigration. Within about the fist week, ICE made around 5,500 arrests with no sign of them slowing down.
This administration has hit the ground running and it does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. One can only guess at what things will be like when the two year mark finally rolls around.
