Back to Back Trump Interviews

Donald Trump recently gave two interviews, which caused uproar among conservatives. This isn’t the first time he has alienated the Right. As President in 2020, Trump had to unify an entire country during the worst pandemic in recent memory. In response to the COVID virus, he undertook Operation Warp Speed, which made untested vaccines available for every citizen. If I were in his shoes, I would have done the same thing. When you have every citizen on both sides of the aisle terrified for their lives, and the election is this year, what would you do? It was an extremely tough spot to be in, and Trump had my sympathy. However, in terms of both of his recent interviews, one with Megyn Kelly and one with Kristen Welker, Trump gave answers that I can only describe as SQUISHY. He did the same thing he did in 2020, pivoting to the Left to try to appeal to both sides of the political aisle. In one interview, he refused to state outright that a man could ever be a woman, and, in the other, he opposed putting a 5-week ban on abortion. You see, election year is 2024, and Trump is trying to put himself in a favorable light with the liberals. The only problem with that is that the liberals will never look with favor on Trump. Ever. I’m not sure who is giving Trump his talking points, but that person is doing a bad job. Sadly, DeSantis is still trailing so far behind Trump as to not even qualify as a realistic competitor. I’m trying to be optimistic about next year, but it’s not looking too good for conservatives.
