Iran Launches Strike Against Israel

By George William

On April 1st, Israel launched a missile strike at a location in Syria that Iran claims as its consulate, killing two Iranian generals and five officers according to Iran. This marked an escalation in relations between the two countries as Iran continues to back terror groups such as Hamas with whom Israel has been engaged in war since Oct. 7th.

Shortly after the attack, Iran responded by vowing “a serious response” against Israel for such an action. The Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah also said the strike will be met with “punishment and revenge.”

Today, Iran has claimed that there are drones currently on their way to attack Israel. Israel has confirmed  that the drones will take hours before they reach Israeli airspace.

“We have determined a clear principle: Whoever harms us, we will harm them. We will defend ourselves against any threat and will do so level-headedly and with determination,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a Saturday night address.

The White House continues to show support for Israel as a close ally.

“President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel’s security is ironclad,” said National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson. “The United States will stand with the people of Israel and support their defense against these threats from Iran.”

The latest reports from United States officials show that the Iranian drones headed for Israel have been shot down by the U. S. military. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that it had launched several drones, in the dozens, into Israel. This is a developing story as tensions rise in the Middle East.
