Google vs Christianity

Written by Montgomery J Granger @mjgranger1

I recently searched for a Bible verse, only to find it criticized in the opening blurb of the results by Google:

“‘ I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’ (John 14:6). Christians are often criticized for claiming that Jesus is the only way to God. After all, there are billions of non-Christians in the world.”

This is at once both an ignorant and bigoted comment from the largest search engine on the planet, targeting the integrity of Christianity itself.

The Bible is often misquoted, taken out of context, and simply misinterpreted, often by atheists and other enemies of Christianity acting in bad faith. My experience was a wake-up call that social media and internet search engines are also designed to be anti-Christian and anti-faith.

This Bible verse, a staple of Born Again and other Christian believers, is well known but often misunderstood and apparently used by a common search engine to badger believers about their faith!

First, let’s put John 14:6 into context by looking at the verses surrounding it in the KJV translation (with a few explanatory notes from yours truly):

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know (through the Father), and the way ye know [through His Word].
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life [I am His Word]: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me [through the Bible (His Word)].
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us [Philip did not understand Jesus].

From this analysis, and to most Bible scholars and those who understand the meaning of the metaphors here, the one way to salvation is through the Word of God. Jesus represents the Word of God. This is a consistent theme throughout the Gospels.

The software engineers who wrote the snide, resentment-filled comment about the verse and Christianity obviously did not attend Sunday School or Bible study.

But this is nothing new. Non-Christians make sport out of telling Christians who we are and how we should behave. We are constantly told that we are supposed to “love and accept everyone,” no matter what.

This is how and why Christianity is being pulled apart at the seams by non-believers, charlatans, and evil-doers. Unrepentant sinners have infiltrated the Christian faith and are driving it into the ground.

It is true that Jesus preached love and forgiveness, but he also preached repentance as the condition for God’s grace. Too often, people want the one without the other.

Responsible Christians know we are imperfect and know that God does not suffer procrastinators. The time to repent from sin is now, for the Lord is here, and judgment is at hand. And the only way to stave off temptation and sin is through the Word of God.

Most Christians don’t go around pointing fingers and denouncing other religions, or even atheists for that matter. We show the light of the world through our words and deeds.
I don’t usually use Google, preferring other search engines, but I wonder what criticisms would appear if I dared to look up other Bible verses.

Google needs to end commentary on search results. We don’t want or need to be lectured about our faith or interests.

By the way, Christianity is still the largest organized religion on earth. You’d think Google would show more respect, but they won’t, as they are part of the globalist movement to fight religion and believers.
